1. We’re thrilled to welcome Ryan Butler to the Waddle as a Platform Software Engineer. RyanB brings tremendous experience in deep learning, Rust 🦀 and system architecture to the team. 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧

2. Vortexplorations ~ The first Vortex product design team came up to speed very quickly and is working to improve the Camera and Character control systems.

3. Vortex v.1.0.3 release!

   • Vortex is now publicly available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store! Adiós, TestFlight.

   • New Stage featuring the Omabu Arts quirky characters!

   

   • New Stage featuring Cally3D’s Friday Night Funkin’ characters!

Industry Recap 🧢:

• Apple must allow other forms of in-app purchase. A ruling in the epic Epic vs. Apple lawsuit says that iOS apps must be allowed to direct users to payment options beyond those offered by Apple. 👍

• Recroom, a social 3D platform where users can play, create and share games together, recently hosted #RecCon. Kent Bye shared exciting tidbits to Twitter:

  1/ #RecCon keynote by @gribbly gave some interesting growth stats. A THREAD on why @recroom is a leading Metaverse platform 🧵👇 5x growth last year 2/3 of all 1.8B room visits happened last year 145M chat messages 60M root beers/65M pizza slices 23M gifts to other players.

  

• Andrew Bosworth (Boz) will become the next CTO of Facebook. Formerly, Boz led the AR/VR research team at Facebook (Facebook Reality Lab).

• The Facebook <> Ryan-Ban Stories glasses have released for $299. With Stories, users can capture audio, images, video and listen to music directly through the glasses. 👓

• Xiaomi has teased its AR Smart Glasses Concept. It features a MicroLED Display & 5MP Camera.

On 2 the next… DEMO(S):

Since adding assets from the open source rhythm game Friday Night Funkin’ and sharing content to TikTok, we’ve welcomed thousands of new guests from around the world to Vortex. 🔥

We are working through our new guests’ feedback and studying the content they are creating to better understand the market and how to craft an exceptional experience.

Here is a prototype of a touch-based 3D view + procedural character animation interface for Vortex. 🔭

Here is another demo we created (on TikTok) to show how to use AR for performing cameras in Vortex:

Lastly, the we believe that educating creators about how 3D Animation works is crucial to our brand. As a result, we’ve started producing educational TikToks like the one below. 🧮

After Boz tweeted a video announcing the release of the Ray-Ban Stories where he throws pillows at Mark Zuckerberg, 3D artist Brielle Garcia roto-scoped each frame and created an interactive AR Snap lens out of it. Now everyone can throw pillows at Zuck. 🤣🤣🤣
